Ok, now im getting very upset. After a whole freaking mess of the 1 gig HyperX 3500 memory I had that refused to run any kinda of timing below 2-4-4-8 my system would just refuse to post period. Even with USB legacy support turned off, the VDImm increased to 2.65 No matter what, it refused to go below that. I couldn't even OC even at 205 on a 1:1 ratio. Needless to say I shipped it back to googlegear and got 3700 TwinX Cosair memory. BUT NOW I"VE GOT THE SAME F"EN PROBLEM!!! If I even disable SPD the system refuses to post again! I have to enable it!! Now wtf Is this??? There is no way it can be the memory 2 times in a row! WTF am I missing here? I tried to OC on a 1:1 ratio with this Corsair, amazingly it lets me boot. But when I try UTK2k3 I get runtime errors and BF1942 just dumps out completely on.

Can anyone give me any suggestions on what else to do here before I throw this board out the F'en window!! Im really loosing faith in ASUS about this whole damn thing. I got a P4 so I could overclock it as everyone else was doing it real easy and the peformance was good for the price. Im running 1007 BIOS atm, I have the Performance at standard mode atm as well.

man...that sucks, sorry to hear. have you tried a little higher than 2.65v? maybe 2.7 or 2.75v?

I would have to agree. Bump the voltage up to the ram. Also, you might not be able to lower the timings.

Haven't you been listening? These boards usually do not like running low timings at dual-channel DDR400 speeds.

Why did you buy it... to tweak it, or to use it? Dang, if I had a system that powerful, I would certainly not beat myself silly for weeks trying to make the lil' numbers go from 3 to 2... I'd be enjoying the new rig using the timings that it wants to run at.

Listen to mechBogon andwalk2, they're right. And if you're still bugged about it start reading the forums at OCforums, Asusboards, HardOCP, etc and look at all the people having "fun" with their DC DDR400 RAM on these 865/875 boards. To reiterate: what mechbogon said is 100% correct, listen to him.

Yes, but thats at 467mhz, not stock 400mhz like I was trying to lower them at. That really blows to spend that much money on RAM that runs at that high of LAT timings. Whats even worse I tried to oc on 1:1 with just a 205 FSB and my games just dump on me. I dunno, maybe 2.65 volts wasn't enough. Aslo, what the hell is the difference between Standard and Turbo performance modes on this board.

That doesn't matter, these pc3700 ram are just overclocked ram to begin with, and no matter what stock settings you try and use, they will NOT run under their rated CAS speeds.

I have a p4c800-e with Corsair twinx 1024 3200ll. I tried playing around with memory timings and corrupted the bios any time time I tried and aggressive timing. I got it working at 2-3-4-8 but anything else it quit.

Running Sandra, the differences between SPD and 2-3-4-8 were very very minimal (spd might even have been faster). The best improvement though is increasing fsb. With the vdimm at 2.65, I did the AI overclocking at 5% with no problems. That should bring fsb to 210. Tonight, I am going to increase vdimm to 2.75 (perfectly acceptable according to Corsair) and see if I can do 10%. The gains in performance from an FSB increase are much more than the memory timings.

Hmmm, I wonder why My games crash on me even with a simple 205 FSB increase? I had the voltage at 2.65? What other settings should I check?

I can practially guarantee the RAM will run 2-2-2-4 @ 2.7 volts on an nForce2 board. See what I'm getting at...? It's not the RAM. It's the motherboard's chipset. Set your RAM back to 3-3-3-8 @ 2.7V and I bet you'll get an OC that makes your face look like this ---> :D

Well then again, Nforce 2's are quad pumped either and they have the higher memory bandwith as a result, so its a tradeoff. I've got my settings at 3-4-4-8 as recommend by Corsair rep, with Peformance accel on auto, 2.75 volts on the Vdimms. I'm attempting to OC on 205FSB and am now testing game stability.

Speaking about RAM timings, I have the P4C800-E Deluxe as well and I'm lost on two settings. From memory, they always show like 3 ratings... 3-3-3 or 2-2-2 which is the CAS Latency, RAS Precharge and RAS to CAS delay. But how do I figure out the Precharge Delay and the Burst Length portion since that's not listed anywhere.
