Below is my original post. The second post gives a little more info and has my main quesitons. Thanks for any help,

I get this error message ("No device attached to FastTrak connector, BIOS is not loaded") on start up and was wondering 1) what's causing it, and 2) how to make it go away:

"Device not connected to the FastTrack controller, BIOS is not installed"

I may not be remembering it exactly, but that's the jist of it. I have one hard drive, a Seagate 120G SATA HD connected via a SATA cable to the SATA0 plug on the ASUS P4C800-E Dlx motherboard. Everything seems to work fine, but I'm wondering what the error message is, and I'd like to get rid of it if possible.

Thanks for any help you can give me,

Gary

Digging through a lot of posts, it looks like I may have plugged my single hard drive into the Promise controller (which is set to RAID by default in the BIOS) and need to move it over to the SATA1 connector (that his linked to ICH5 RAID controller, but is not set to RAID by default).

This sound familiar to anyone. More generally, can I just unplug the hard drive (now that I have XP loaded) from the one SATA connector and plug it into the other? Any reasons why I can't?

Sorry if this all sounds so basic, but it's new for me - learning as I go. Thanks,

Gary
