I have assembled a new PC in a Lian-li cabinet. Parts are
p4C800-e deluxe,
2x512 TwinMos dualchannel memory DDR400,
PowerColor p800SE,
1x37,5 Gb Raptor Western Digital
1x200 Caviar Western Digital,
Sony CDROM and floppy,
NEC2510 DVD burner.
BIOS 1017
I have unfortunately run into a series of problems and in great need of help.
1. Board will not recognize more than 1 memory stick. When everything else works I will exchange this memory for another make. Does anybody have a suggestion, ! want 1 GB, preferably as 2x512 becaus of the price.
2. I have not been able to install anything on my SATA disks!! I have tried everything. Eventually I had to install XP on a 3 Gb IDE disk I had lying around. The situation is now that if I connect any of the two disks to the Promius controller (non RAID) the machine will not boot. It will in fact not boot on a diskette either.
If I connect it to the IPCHR S-ATA connector the disk is not recognised at all. I tried to run the WD Data Lifeguard Tool in Windows and it doesn't see the disks. I have installed the intel drivers and Promis RAID drivers.
As far as I can understand either both the disks nust be broken or the board must be broken?
3. I had another problem that I troubled with related to the floppy disk. I have seen other people having had similar problems, and the problem went away. I tried bo0oting from diskette and put in the diskette. The machine was complaining and couldn't find the diskette and cam up with an error message. I swapped cables, tried other diskettes, same problem. I tried the floppy in another machin - OK! It turned out that the floppy had been put in to far so that the release button in the cabinett was slightly pushing the release button so the floppydrive sensed that the door was open and refused to read from the floppy. I moved the floppy back a little and the problem was gone.
I hope somebody can help me with (2) Thanks.
