I doubt it. Only the 3.2 and 3.0 might come down in price. Demand has risen, so there's not much reason to reduce prices.

If you don't buy now you will always be waiting... Something faster, better, cheaper will always come out...Spend the extra $15-20, enjoy the CPU NOW.

The next major price cut will come when the 3.4 comes out sometime in Q4. However the price drops wont be that great on the low end.

thanks for the reply. My rig is a 1.8a in an 845g. My proc is about to give out from a little to much heat. it used to oc to around 2.4 with at 1.6 voltage. Now it won't do jack. it's getting slow on boots and a few errors here and there. The 2.4c will work in the board, but I will have to overclock the fsb and probably end up underclocking the cpu until I can get a new board. any ideas. should I wait or get the cpu now?

I'd get it now, then I'd get the 3.0c or the 3.2c in a few months when the prices on them drop.

Heck, you may even want to stay with the 2.4c for a while once you get it. It's better at OC'ing and utilizes DDR 500MHz much better than the 2.8c thru 3.2c processors.

From what I remember reading just imagine the 2.6c will cost what the 2.4c cost now which is only 30 bucks cheaper the 2.8c will fall to around 2.6c prices for about a 50-60 decrease the 3.0c will fall to 2.8c and so on...Intel steps them so they can bring the 3.4c at a similar price the last chips have been coming in at. Sometimes this may be a 2 date phase in so the 3.0c may go halfway to 2.8c price at release of 3.4ghz and then 2-4 weeks later drop to 2.8c current levels...

The thought is kinda like the phenomenon that happens in your head when you try to envision the outer limits of space :D

In my humble opinion, yes get one now...

I would get an abit - IS7 - version whatever they have about 5 of that model number... (newegg.com has them) for a 90 duckets... free shipping too...
... you could go with a cheaper mobo (but I wouldn't), but prices won't drop that much...
Intel knows that it can hang on to prices for a while, AMD is not going anywhere just yet, the P4- 2.4 @533 rocks the house vern... Check out O/C.com... get a good mobo, so you can really enjoy the CPU... go abit or asus in any case...

take care

There is an Intel price cut scheduled for Oct 26th. It will only effect the 2.53 and higher P4 CPUs. I haven't seem hard numbers from Intel but Duvie is probably in the ballpark.

Hit your local PC shows and you will find a good deal from all the vendors.. They want your business so they will work with ya.

FYI: I was able to buy a NIB 2.4c for $159.00 including tax.. most guys at the show had em for $170.00+
Bargain, bring cash and tell them that you will buy it on the spot.. they can't refuse anyone with CASHHHHHHHH :)

BTW: That same $159.00 2.4c chip i bought does 3.5Ghz with the stock Intel HSF @ 1.55v (291x12) = 3496.6MHz

Thanks for all the "intel". HA! no pun intended. But I just had a major drop in funds. my car's windshield got a huge crack right across the middle. I was hit on the way to work this morning, and I guess the heat through the afternoon caused the crack to expand. It's perfectly in the middle of the windsheild completely across to the other side. LIFE SUCKS!!! I may just start out with the board and
run the proc till it burns up!!!
