P4B266 Onboard Audio

Has anyone gotten the audio to work under windows xp? I'm running Sp1, and I have pci cards installed. I know this used to be a problem, but I'm on the latest bios (10) and it's ridiculous that this doesn't work.

I booted into safe mode, disabled the driver, and rebooted. I then installed the latest drivers and the computer froze hard. Suggestions?

Ihad a P4B266 that had the audio working fine under XP. I don't remember installing any drivers for it, I just used whatever was built-in to XP. Remove the drivers again and go with whatever Windows installs on the next reboot.

If that doesn't work, here's another thought: Back when I was using this board (early last year) there was no sp1. I guess if you were desperate you could reinstall the OS w/o sp1 and see if the audio works....

Yeah I'm definitely running SP1. I will not reinstall though, I need too many things from sp1 to not have it. Darn.

I'm using a P4B266 together with Windows XP Professional SP1, and the onboard sound is working fine.

When I upgraded from Windows 2000 to XP SP1 about a month ago, I downloaded the latest drivers for the onboard sound off of the CMedia web site and used those.
