P4b266 and no sound!

I have loaded the C-media drivers, and I still get no sound from the onboard sound and also the SPDIF out. Anyone there to help me!

Here is what I have:
P4 1.6A
Geforce2 GTS
plextor
toshiba DVD drive
WD 80gb
512 PC2100
Realtek Eternet card

Help!
 
What version of windows are you using? I had the same problem and it turned out simply to be a matter of trying out different drivers until one set worked (v1096 in Win98).

However, I did have a much more troubling problem that cropped up later...I doubt yours has the same cause but I refer you to my thread because I listed a bunch of steps there that I tried to get my sound to work; maybe one will work for you. Read it here and make sure you have tried all of them, that can rule out many possibilities.
