Is this a pretty good overclock for my system? I'm running the cpu at 1.7volts and FSB at 167 and fsb/ram ratio of 1:1. I cant seem to get it any higher without it locking up, could my memory be holding me back? It's samsung ddr-333 running 2-2-2-6 @ 2.6volts.

From my testing and what I have read you should get better performance out of 2,3,3,8 versus 2,3,3,6...The rule being the first 3 added together set the last number....

IE why ppl have said 2,2,2,6 is better performance then 2,2,2,5.....

I think it may not make much of a difference if you are already at 1.7v...i assume that is what you set in the bios?? If so you are likely above 1.7v and I don't recommend much more for those c1 stepping chips.....

I'm pretty sure now it's not my memory holding me back. Ran it at lax timings and it still wouldn't go any higher. I'm pretty damn content with this overclock though. 3dmark2001se score went up from 11500 to 13800 and call of duty and max payne 2 run smoother. Do you think I'd get better performance running my memory at 2-2-2-6 or 2-2-2-5? Thanks for the input.

2-2-2-6....but you could test it yourself.....

I had a nice 2.4b that did 3.24ghz at 1.6v and 3.33ghz at 1.7v.....

What mobo do you have and are you running a dual channel ddr setup???

Sorry I don't know what chipset the asus p4pe is....I845pe chipset??? E7205 and granite bay??? I don't think it is an i865 or i875 chipset so I am thinking it may not be dual channel ddr setup....

I saw a healthy increase from taking my 2.4b@3.24ghz from an i845pe to a i875 DCDDR Abit IC7 and that was with running the ram speed slower...

Turns out it wasn't completely stable at 3.17ghz. All of my games ran fine but when I ran prime95 it failed in less than 1 minute. Backed the core way down to 3.002ghz FSB 158 but bumped the memory up from 334mhz to 395mhz. No real change in performance other than my 3dmark01 score dropping less than 400 points.
