P45/P55 Chipset with E6600 Conroe

My old motherboard died and I want to upgrade it. I have and Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz with Crucial Ballistix 4 x 1GB PC2 6400 4-4-4-12, 2.2V.

Could I get a motherboard with a P55 chipset, or just a P45?

No. Yes.

Long answer....P55 chipsets have a Socket 1136 and your Q6600 cpu is a Socket 775; the two sockets are completely incompatible with each other.
