P45 boards drop support for older 775 Pentium/D chips?

P45-DS3R

There's a note on this mobo that it supports VRD 11.1, and not VRD 10.0. I thought that the VRD specs were backwards-compatible, no?

Look at this list, the P35-DS3R supports the new C2Ds AND the old 775 Pentium chips.

If the P35 can do it (support both the old and new CPUs), then why can't the P45? Yet another example of why newer isn't always better.

When was the last P4 released? 2 years ago (Ceder Mill)? Granted its tough to change, but come on, if you are getting a new MOBO then there is no reason why you shouldn't be getting a new CPU to go with it (That is, if you have an aged P4). There would be no speed jump from a new MOBO with a P4 but a huge one with a C2D based chip going in.
