When Anandtech did the article on the P45/P43, it was stated that the chipset would support up to 16 GB DDR2, but only 8 GB DDR3. But, I went to Intel's website to look at their P43 and P45 motherboards. Their P43 board says it only supports 8 GB of DDR2, but the P45 board says it supports 16 GB of DDR3. So who is in the wrong? I can't even tell, even the specs on Newegg don't match (some say 8, some say 16).

Not really concerned about it, but I am curious.

P43/P45 may well be similar to P31/P35 where P35 supported more & faster RAM than P31.
