I have a 1.9 p4 400mhz machine.

I uptated my bios to p15 so that I can install a 2.6 p4.

This is my question?

Will I see any performance boost on my system?????

I have an agp 4x 128mb 4200 video card with 1.5gig of sdram..........

Thanks Curt.

What was the motherboard???

Also is that a 2.6 (400fsb) model or one of the new p4 2.6c models??? Very important here, casue older mobos likely will not be able to run a p4 2.6c at the 200fsb level it needs to and likely will not support the hyperthrading the big advanatge of the HT chips in my opinion.

I see you reference sdram so I am thinking older i845 chipset....Do not get a p4c chip, I repeat do not....If you are getting a 2.6a 400fsb chip obviously you will see gains. maybe 5-10% in just the added l2 cache of the northwood chips. The bandwidth will be the same, but obviously the 700mhz in added cpu speed will be a major gain their as this represents a greater then 33% gain in mhz...

845 motherboard.

400 mz bus.

just a regular p4.

I know that the sdram is slow.... 133mhz..... ddr would be beter.........

Thanks. Curt.........
