Ok, just ordered my P4 1.6a, Abit BD7, and Kingston 2100 ddr 256mb. I'm upgrading from an Abit Bx6-r2/p3 1ghz/512mb and i have Ibm 60Gb w/ Promise ata100/Geforce2GTS/SB Audigy/48xcdrom/16x burner, i have an atx case with an Antec 300w ps. Is there anything else i need to get this upgrade to run smoothly? Isn't there a p4 power connecter i need to buy?

Most Antec PSUs already have a P4 connector. Didn't you read the reviews? The Abit board is supposed to be a bad overclocker.

Haven't had time to read the reviews...if i can overclock that's great but if i can't oh well....i just wanted a faster system than what i have now.....My antec 300w is old, before the p4 came out......by any chance does it come with my motherboard?

you might wanna look at the ASUS P4B266 mobo, ASUS includes

<< The ASUS EZ Plug? power connector lets you use your existing power supply and eliminates the need to buy a special ATX 12V power supply necessary to support your P4 CPU. >>

Not sure if ABIT has that, so unless ya wanna buy new power supply, the ASUS looks like the better deal.

The motherboard wont come with a connector. The ASUS boards have a place where you can put a normal molex connector in instead of the P4 connector. The Abit might too, I'm not sure though.

Really really quick question, what's the difference between the ASUS P4B266-C and the ASUS P4B266, just 1 less dimm slot and no usb 2.0 support?

Just changed my order from the BD7 to the P4b266-C. After reading stories about the overclocking issues and rma issues i really dont' want to put up with that. The only reason why i chose the Abit board was because i've been very happy with my bx6-r2.... Thanks for the head up on the overclocking issue jcmkk...thanks everybody!

You have a 99.999 percent chance of getting 2133mhz at default voltage, about a 90% chance of 2320mhz with possible voltage increase, and about a 50% chance of 2600mhz with voltage increase and possible aftermarket heatsink/fan/thermal compound.
