P4 System: suggestions needed..

I'm looking for case/psu/mobo/cooling/ram recommendations.. I think I've pretty much figured out the rest of the system.

CPU: P4-2.8GHz
HD: WD SE 120GB
VID: my old GF2 GTS (AGP) - waitin for the new NV30 to upgrade that component..
SND: sb audigy
Mouse: logitech dual sensor optical (USB)
KB: ms natural pro (USB)
CDRW: plextor 48x
NIC: intel 10/100 pci
Monitor: haven't decided yet

I've got the meat but I can't make a sandwich without the bread! 😉
I'm not going to be overclocking anything because I want this system to be stable, cool and reliable because it's gotta last me a few years. I'm more than willing to sacrifice a little bit of speed for stability!
My budget for the case/psu/cooling/mobo/ram is about $700. I'm also looking for a good place to buy all those parts online, if anyone's got any suggestions, I'm all ears! 😀

Any help is greatly appreciated - thanks in advance!

Mobo: Something with the Granite Bay chipset in it = ~$150-200
RAM: 2x256MB Corsair XMS PC2700C2 = ~$200 (or 2x512MB Corsair XMS PC2700C2 if ya wanna go all out and spend a ton, ~$400)
Case: Go to newegg.com, find an Antec or Lian-Li case you like and buy it. = ~$100-200
PSU: If the above case comes with an Antec True Power PSU, then you're good to go, otherwise get a good Antec True Power PSU (Antec TP 330w should be plenty, but you can get 380w+ if you wanna be future proof) = $0-80
Cooling: Intel stock fans are top notch and quiet, so there's no need to get anything else, but if you absolutely have to get your own HSF, go with a nice Alpha HS + Panaflo fan = $50

Min. cost = ~$500, max. cost = ~$730

What's the "Granite Bay" chipset? Who (asus/abit/?) would make this type of mobo (model #?) and where could I find it?

Thanks for the speedy response saint.

Granite Bay is Intel's Dual Channel DDR chipset. It will have two memory channels, allowing DDR RAM to fill the P4's bandwidth needs. Its supposed to be faster than PC1066 RDRAM and it slated to be released on or about Nov. 14th. I know you'll have to wait about two weeks (maybe three if t he mobo manufacturers are slow, but for something this big I'd expect them to be in store shelves on the day of release).

Thanks for the speedy response saint.

No problem 🙂
