How do you remove the heatsink? :\ I've tried wedging it out, I don't really wonna pull it up as i've read the cpu is (probably) attached and will come off with it,

someone said to turn on your comp, let it heat up and try to wedge it out, but it's not really working for me, can someone tell me what i should do?

a slight twist left and right while it's still in the retention bracket (after you've loosend the clips) generally gets the job done. Then simply lift it off the processor.

what type of retention system does your board use (what board do you use)? there are several different implentations by various venders. I never "wedge" anything on a pc.

Not really sure what to do here :( I don't really know what kind of system it is, heh.

I think i'll have some friend look at it some day and do it for me, or something, if I cant get it to work.

But it seems like the braces are removeable, but when I Try it doesnt really work, i don't know how to describe it/ explain it or whatever :

i ahve a foxconn 865a01 mother board tho

edit - i have a stock hs/f, with uh, dont really know but it seems like theres a retentoin hook that snaps into the hole, or something, seems like if i remove that i could remove it (Or so says this installation instructoins worked backwords in my manual)

edit 2 - i feel like i could do it now, but my patience has totally run out with this thing :( Donno if is hould even bother trying, i hate removing and replacing the case, especially if im front, i'll probably try after a shower or something

edit 3- well i finally removed out, damn that was the hardest thing ever
installed a new spark 7+ added arctic silver(BOth a Lot easier than removing that damned thing) and i turned my comp on, the cpu temp was signifcantly higher and i had no clue why :( Than i realized fan was on minimum, so i raised it to max, and temperature slowly went down, idling at 58C now, dropping down slowly probably, hopefully the arctic silver will kick in soon and really help this thing out

i installed the spark 7+ and arctic silver, but my comp temperatures seem signifcantly higher than they were with the stock p4, any reasons why?
