p4 prescott /w pc-2700 in single chan

is this creating a huge bottleneck? i've got like $150 to spend and i dunno which to upgrade. my motherboard so i can run the ram in dual channel, or buy 1gb of pc-3200 and let the chip run in single channel. which would be more beneficial?

how much memory have you got at the moment??? 512 of 2700 or 1gig of 2700??

P4's are notoriously bandwidth hungry so if you can go dual channel then I would...

Can you not get 2 sticks of 512mb PC3200 for the same price as a 1gig stick?

right now i have 512, 2 sticks. i'm planning on buying this:

if i bought this ram and ran it in single channel, would i notice a significant difference?

Shuttle AB60N Intel 865PE Motherboard w/dual channel

Motherboard = $52.49 shipped
1GB Ram Kit = $97.00 shipped

Grand total = $149.49

I've used that shuttle board in some builds, and it's very nice for the money.
