hey, im looking for a really good overclocking P4 mobo that also supports agp 8x, dual ddr would be great too. so far i havent found many p4 boards & chipsets that support agp 8x. the sis 648 does, but how does it overclock? how about the Asus P4S8X ? how well can it overclock? any other mobo's that meet these criteria i would greatly appreciate you suggesting them

thanks

when is that expected? maybe in the next 2 weeks? :) the dual ddr isnt that big a deal, only if its avaible very soon, failing that, just a real good overclocker supporting agp 8x will do

I won't make fun of you for wanting AGP 8x but I will say...AGP 8x is NOT 2x faster than AGP 4x and it never will be!

Rhett, i have to go with dredd on this one. AGP8x will not give you a very noticable boost over 4x, simply because that bandwidth is not needed yet. You will find a better performance increase with dualDDR than you would with AGP8x, IMHO.
but, if AGP8x will make your sun rise brighter, your whites whiter, and float your boat, go for it, and more power to you

I would go for the gigabyte 8sg667 and run it at 150 fsb. Anything higher, and I would go for the albatron px 845pe pro. The granite bay boards are overpriced, and not worth the extra money. Maybe sis 655 will be significately lower.

Asus P4G8X Deluxe - this mobo has an 8X AGP slot, but thats no reason, as you've read here, to buy anything.

asus mobo details ( this mobo isnt out yet - ETA 12/15-ish HERE... last 2 mobos at the bottom of page )

If $ is not the issue, I would ( am going to... ) get this board. Sh*t, if you're building your PC anyway, you've already saved half of the $ you would have spent on that ( dude yer gettin' a... ) DELL that isnt half as "good".

Slap in a p4 3.06 and 512MB DDR and smile! :)

UPDATE - I emailed this distributor and got this back -

ME: "I am sure you get pleanty of requests for this.... BUT... does it look like this board will be in this week???"

DISTRIBUTOR: "To honest with you, we are quite doubtful that we will received it by early Jan. 2003, although that is what we were told by the distributor.
Happy Holidays
Powerstart"

This is the standard message from all distributors :|

i have the P4S8X '' GOLD'' board and i love it i have not had any problems out of it although i know some who have i think its just a random problem.

and as far as the 8x agp there are not any games out there that will optimize the 8x but there will be in the future and when there is i'll be ready.

but hey thats just my outlook on the subject

screw AGP 8x. the last thing you need to do is buy a mobo because of something as useless as AGP 8x.. just buy whatever is good, regardless of 8x

dual DDR is far more important, even though the difference doesn't seem to be that great with it either.
