hey, i need to find a P4 motherboard that can do the following:

run a P4 @ 166Mhz with true PC2700 Memory(512MB samsung PC2700@CAS2), for example a 2.4B northwood @ 18x166mhz for 3Ghz, assuming the chip can handle it of coarse :)

1.75+ core voltage. i would prefer MORE, like 1.85.

AGP/PCI lock at 66/33, reguardless of FSB.

that is the REQUIREMENTS.

now id like onboard LAN/USB2.0/firewire and even RAID if possible but not necessary. And 6ch sound if possible, but if not ill use a Philips Accoustic edge...
these are all just requests as they can be added in PCI cards.

any thoughts?

Asus P4B533 up to 1.95V,200FSB,USB 2.0,6 channel audio,AGP/PCI locks,AGP voltage settings and whatever else I missed. Also has the 3:4 hack by flipping DS6 on,no 4:5 ratio.Stick that in your pipe and smoke it:D.No Lan,Raid or Firewire though. You can always buy a raid card. There are a few good board BG7,P4B533-V,4G4A and one of the Gigabyte boards GA-8IEXP.best if you do some research and decide for yourself. My 1.6a can't even do 150FSB,144 tops for 2.3GHz.I can't complain for a free 700MHz but its considered a dud by our standards of what these can do.Plan on toasting your CPU if running over 1.75V.I personally would try to stay at 1.7V.I run mine at 1.65 tops.At idle my P4B533 overvolts .06 to 1.71 and 1.65 under load.

I had problems with an 8IEXP, so wouldn't recommend.

I now have a Asus PbB533-V which is OK, but none of the 845G boards can run memory fast at CL2. You have been warned!

Best buy is a P4B533 or P4B533-E.

i have noticed that the 8IEXP cannot handle such high memory speeds, which is too bad because it WAS my board of choice.

i have also seen that the i845G does not do well with memory at 166mhz CAS2, BUT the i845E does, does this seem true to you guys?
i845G=150Mhz FSB limit? my observation.

what is the difference between a P4B533-E and P4B533-V?

i like the features of the sis 645 & 648, but they do not seem to overclock well, at least the 648 has not seemed too.

i think the best bet would be i845E.

how about a via chip? any Via boards overclock well?

i have searched the web and found this:
http://www.vr-zone.com/reviews/ABIT/BG7/page5.htm

this is what im trying to do. the BD7II-RAID and BG7 look good, any thoughts on these boards?

the race has come down to:
ABIT BG7
ASUS P4B533-??
