ok no replies first time so here goes again. i got an abit AI7 and wondering what vcore i should set my p4-m 1.6. i currently have it at 2.4ghz with 1.7vcore. what a good vcore that won't kill this cpu within the next 2-3 years.

1.7 Volts is kinda high even for a regular Pentium 4, don't the Penium-M's have an even lower spec for voltage?

Teh Pentium 4M and Pentium M are two totally different CPUs. Pentium 4 Ms work in a lot of desktop boards (although sometimes require modifications). 845 and 848 chipset mobos tend to be most compatible.

It's hard to fathom something that small. Can you post a both of those processors next to each other?

i don't do much dealing with Penitums, i guess it just looks smaller without the heat spreader. heres lots of info about the mobiles side by side with desktop cpus:

then again maybe i'm wrong about being wrong :) the laptops i've opened were the latest 3ghz flavors. it might have changed.

edit: incase you have a hard time "fathoming" something smaller, heres what the old P3 mobiles looked like :)

Here's a very nice little P4-M article by one of our very one forum members.

No sense guessing about these special CPUs, just read this and you'll know what's up.
