p4-m (1mb cache)

Buddy of mine has an IBM Thinkpad t30 with a p4 1.6. I was looking at it and it says it has 1mb cache. Is there such a cpu? Also sometimes the cpu says its only 1.2 instead of 1.6?
How much is this lappy worth? It has 1 gig of ram but only a ati 7500 32mb video card. Has dvd/cdrw combo.14 in screen.Wireless lan.Seems to work good.

The T30 was only available with a Mobile P4-M w/ 512KB cache, the Banias Pentium M didn't appear until the T40.

What is the type/model number of the T30? The number is located on the bottom and will be of the form: 236x-xxx for a T30 and 237x-xxx if it's a T40. You can then look up that number at IBM.com and get the full specs.

without knowing the exact configuration, it is hard to tell you it's value.

"So it uses 24w and 1.48v of power. Probably not much battery time on this laptop?"

Has someone hit you on the head with a metal bar or something? Are you nuts? 24W is one of the lowest power processors for mobile nowdays without going to via crap.

LOL..its ok verbally abuse me,I know nothing about laptops except that I want this one.I appreciate all help and comments.I just figured that the cpu voltage which is 1.48v would translate to more battery usage as compared to the cpu in some laptops that take 1.3v

Forget those numbers. Banias is not a pentium 4 processor, just pentium M. I think Yomicron's on the right trail.

If its a P4M, it will have 512 kb cache.

If its a Pentium M, it will have 1 MB cache.

Cant you CPU Z or something similar to find out what it is?
