We have returned to the Athlon 1GHZ Era.

I personally feel the creation of these ultra flagship processors a bit excessive. Espically since most are based on server products and aren't designed with the desktop in mind. I fear to think what amount of heat the P4EE puts out.

That being said, if it wasn't for the P4EE, AMD would have a clear performance crown. But the EE seems to do well in alot of the benchmarks against the FX. The price, though, is horrendous.

Unless cache makes a lot of heat, the EE 3.2 shouldn't be pumpng more heat than the 3.2C

Yes, it performs well. The whole point is that some people are willing to pay top $ for top performance. Most, however, realize that the 2.6C and 2500+ are much better for the $.

10 more watts.

82 vs 92 watts. From the intel website.

A bargain at half the price!

Considering you can get a P4 3.2 GHz, motherboard, and radeon 9800XT card for the same price I think I'll pass :)

I should have bought 2 while they were cheap.

Somebody must've bought them. Not just 1 or 2 either. Otherwise, theres no reason for Newegg to raise the price.

I could have been a pricing mistake.

What i dont get is.. Even with the extra cache, voltage and hear, it still cannot out perform a SLOWER clocked Athlon 64FX. At least for $750 you get an unlocked multiplier on the FX line and for $1050 you dont with a EE. Lame

I would rather have a whole AMD system + moniter and speakers than a P4EE.

I would NEVER buy that thing
