P4 Downclocked and No Way Back?

I was messing around with Clockgen (http://www.cpuid.org/clockgen.php) trying to OC my lowly P4 2.53 to something a bit higher, earlier today. The problem is, my motherboard (FIC VG31 http://www.fic.com.tw/product/motherboard/1stmainboard_detail.aspx?model_id=80) isn't exactly supported. Knowing this, I chose to use the closest version to my motherboard, CG-CY28346 for Intel D845GBV and D845EPT2 motherboards. I amped up the clocks by around 100mhz when suddenly my entire PC froze. When I restarted, nothing happend, no post, no beeps, no nothing. After testing everything in my PC, I figured out that one of my 512 sticks died, I took it out and everything worked fine. However, now my clock speed is down from 2.53 to 1.9. My FSB is locked in at 99.6mhz, my bus speed is down to 398.5mhz. The question I have is, why? Why did my clocks lower themselves? And more importantly, how the hell can I get them back. As I noted, my mobo/bios don't really have any CPU clocking options, so I can't clock it back to normal. Am I screwed or what? Any help would be much appriciated. D:

Heres some specs for refference:

CPU - P4 2.53ghz 533bus Northwood
RAM - 1x512mb PC2100
GFX - 9800XT 256MB
SND - Audigy 2 ZS
PSU - 250w Generic
MOBO - First International Computer VG31

Haha, come on, i'm not that much of a noob! I've done that multiple times, doesn't reset the clock speeds, only bios settings. :/ Its really bizzare. I found a bios update and used it, hoping there would be some clocking options, and luckily there were. I can bring up the FSB settings, but the problem is, it also raises the AGP/PCI bus with it, plus, even raised to the max setting it allows, I can only get 2.3ghz, not to mention the whole issue of instability when doing so.

Its funny that you think I actually bought this mobo :D Its a freebee, passed down from a friend with an old eMachines PC laying around. The P4 2.53 ain't that bad (matches the 9800xt well) so I don't think i'll be ditching it (especially without getting a new mobo too, which then I might as well buy an entirely new setup.) I'll check out my clock speeds when I actually play games/do other tasks/ect. but I can feel the effects of losing 500mhz, so I'm pretty sure its not just displaying incorrect speeds.

there is really no fsb 100/133 option in the bios? and its an emachine, hmm. this is stupid but try taking the cpu out, then putting it back in.

Yep, clocks stay the same no matter what my PC is doing. I already emailed FIC about it, sure i'll never get a response though. I'll try out sie's suggestion, perhaps i'll try putting another P4 in its place while i'm at it.
