p4 cooler on a socket a board?

Senior member
so am i understanding this correctly
the p4 coolers use the 4 holes in the motherboard correcT?
but almost all socketA board have those holes anyway...

so can i use a p4 cooler with a socket a board?

I think the holes around the Pentium 4 Sockets are spaced out farther than the Socket A motherboards. There are some Heatsinks that fit both motherboards but the usually come with an adapter to mount on both boards. The SLK800U and SLK900U mount on Socket A and Socket 478 but they use the adapter.
