P4 Boot Problem

I've got a P4 2.2 setup. I'm basically lost as to what the problem is here, so hopefully someone here could help.

I've got everything installed, seated correctly, cables hooked up etc. However, when the machine powers up there's no picture. And the system doesn't beep at all as if there was a problem or the boot up was ok. The video card does work, as I tested it but no luck.

Any ideas as to what the problem could be? everything is getting power, mobo seems to be running, but I just can't get a picture or even a beep.

Pull any unneeded components - see if it starts.

Pull the video card - does it beep? Maybe incompatible video card if it does.

Pull the CPU and/or memory - does it beep? It should.

Is your memory in the lowest banks, or if you have Rambus are blanks inserted in empty slots?

Does your power supply have the extra connector? Is it plugged in? (the 2nd conn that is, I assume you plugged the PC in :) )

About all I could do after reseating all the components is to find some similar components somewhere to swap in and try.

Some info would help, you know :).

Could be a power-problem - a lot of people think they can get away using ATX PSU's with P4 - which is simply not true, especially the later versions. There's simply too much drag on the 12V line and ATX PSU's just don't have the amps to supply the power. So - make sure you have an ATX 12V PSU (i.e.: you got that little 2x2 power-connector & it's connected to the board - do NOT use "adapters" - they simply do not cut it).

Other than that - see above. Get the system down to MINIMAL.

Oh yeah - in case you're using RDRAM - check that your memory & the terminators (you're using terminators, RIGHT?) are seated propperly - preferrably re-seat them. A dislocated terminator often causes the issue you see.

Hope this helps :D.
