Hi
I'm totally new to anandtech and I really need to know what is the diffence between the P4 550e and the P4 550j, I know there is a difference between price, can someone could help me by posting a like to a benchmark or a spec list of these to or only post what you know
Thank you

There is no P4 550E as far as I know. There is a P4 3.4E, which is a Prescott in socket 478 format.

The 550J is an LGA775 socket P4 also running at 3.4Ghz. It's also a Prescott. The J indicates that it has the Execute Disable function and some extra thermal slowdown capabilities.

They will both perform about the same.

I think that should just be 550, not 550E. That'd be the same as the 550J without the security bit and the TM2 thottle capability.

I think the "J" version have EMT64 (= AMD-compatible 64 bit).

You need a 924XE mainboard to use it, though.

No, the J's don't have EM64T. Only the Noconas do at present.

Well, I guess the LGA775 chips could have EM64T built in but "turned off". 😀
