my p4 3ghz computer has 512 pc-3200 in it, but i have another gig of pc-2700 lying around.

will my cpu run at ddr333 speed ok?

it will run just fine, except the current PC3200 stick you have in there at the moment, will be reduced down to PC2700 (DDR333 instead of DDR 400) speeds as the RAM can not run independent of each other, and by default the memory speed is reduced to the lowest SPD rating, which will be your PC2700 RAM, there will be a performance hit, but having more memory will benefit you more, as this will mean less use of the swap file .. 😉

Overall performance should be alot better, unless all you do is surf teh net 😛

if you are fortunate enough to have different brands that work together most ram will default to the lowest common denominator!!

Should run fine together. The 2 problems you will have is all the ram will run at 333mhz, and you'll also be running in single channel. Since P4's are bandwidth hungry it will hurt your performance. It would probably be better to sell your gig of PC2700 and get another 512mb of PC3200 to run in dual channel.
