P4 3GHz - Which of these two Power Supplies will work best?

Hello,

I am building a system for someone that will have a P4 3GHZ CPU.
They will not be overclocking the system, but it will have a RADEON 9700 in it.
It will have one IDE HD drive, DVD, CDRW, and Floppy.

I am thinking that the 12V line is the most important when looking at a PS, but not sure.
How much max current should the power supply be able to put out on the 12V rail if indeed that is the one?

Here are two different Power Supplies that happen to come with two cases I am looking at.

The second supply (Enermax) is spec'd for more amps on every power rail, but is rated at 300W, where as the Raidmax supply is rated at 350W?

Comments, suggestions?

Thanks.

Hey, I just put a similar AMD system together. Enermax in the past have been great PS for me and i was running similar features on my old computer with the enermax PS in it, accept for the proccesor. I would say you would get a more stable current and better power with the enermax however I don't know much about the other PS u have so it might do the trick as well. If you want something good and great price go with antec they supply Alienware computers and i just recently purchased one with my new computer and its kicking ass. I can hook you up with a guy who will get you one for a great price if you decide to go with it. However out of the two i see youve got id go with the enermax. Quality of power in a 300w makes up for the extra 50w from the other and then some.

I agree. The Enermax is the easy choice regardless of the 300w rating. BTW, the raidmax PS gets the 350w from multiplying the amps x voltage of the +3.3,+5,+12v rails and adding all of these together. This is not a true power rating because even though it shows a rating of 53w(3.3v), 125w(5v), 168w(12v), these are max currents for each of these rails, but this doesn't mean that all rails will reach max current simultaneously! So the total output of this PS will probably never reach 350w. If you use the same calculation on the Enermax PS, you come up with over 500w, but being the standup company they are they put a realistic total output of 300w on their product. I have an Antec True430 and the Enermax numbers are very close to mine.

I like the enermax as well....My only concern is a see some power hogs in the terms of cpu and vid card!!! I sure hope you don't plan on ocing as I think the 300watter may not be enough....Just be careful as power issues can often be difficult to figure out.

Definitely the Enermax, but I think by now you've caught the drift ;)
