P4 3.4ghz <> AMD 3400+

Umm ok i have a 480watt PSU will buy a MB to go with CPU DDR400 1GB of good ram.and this machine will be doing Gaming Mainly with some video encoding and i can go either water or air cooling. but on a basic level does the 3400+ OC'd to avg OC clock speeds compare to,Beat,Destroy,Lose to the P4 3.4 Ghz OC'd to its avg max?

IIRC at 3.4ghz, you're already pushing the p4 3.4c core, while the 3400+ under the right mobo, MIGHT have better yields
gaming on the athlon will be better, but multimedia the p4 shines, but since you do both, its your call

btw, if you're only getting DDR400 ram, get the athlon64, because the athlon doesnt require 1:1 to really shine - the p4 needs memory bandwidth like a mofo

Some people are getting 3.4 to 3.75 and up. There is still room for overclocking

The difference is VERY small. A couple of % typically. No big deal.

Not true. DDR400 will work just fine. 1:1 on a P4 is not a big deal as some people think. Its been proven many times over.
