P4 3.06GHz C1 OEM instock at newegg for $689

Guess you could put this in the hot deals forum but maybe it's not that hot! I like paying $48 for Athlon XP 1600+.

I don't care enough about bragging rights to spend that much of money, especially to give it to intel. Besides I'm earning an amazing 1.8% APY by keeping the money in my savings account 😛

Once it's down to $250-300 then maybe.

LoL, Mark One Computers has the OEM for $706.90 in stock, (based in Ill so no state tax for California people).
The Retail is backordered and priced at $666.66. I bet the price will go up when the stock arrives. 😀

As soon as the next chip comes on this thing is going to drop about $300-400 in price (I'm guessing here, but it makes some sort of sense, Intel always overcharges a lot for their latest design) 🙂 Not worth it to get now.

how do you know it's C1 stepping?

I think its safe to say that 2.53ghz P4's and above are C1 steppings (usually).

well the picture shows that its a C1 stepping🙂. Check intel's website on the P4 3.06, all of em are C1 (correct me if im wrong) according to the stepping charts.
