Hey guys,

I want to put together a sweet rig that I can do alot of things at once with.
Will a 2.8C be able to handle encoding divx video while surfin the net, chatting on AIM,
listening to music etc.?

Thanks,

Triforce

No. You must have AT least a P4 3.0c in order to "encode divx" at some unspecified quality setting and "other tasks." It's the other tasks that really get you here. You will need the 3ghz.

No wait... You need at least 3.4EE, in order to encode divx.

encoding takes time, the faster your PC, the faster the encoding. you can encode on a pentium 120MHz, but hell, it'll just take forever. people tend to start the encoding process, and then go to work\school\sleep\shower\etc

I don't think you got it.
Nevermind.

Well I just said that this unspecified setting confused me, and I didn't understood your sarcasm in the first place.
Now you got it?

;)

I don't have very high hopes for it; it's by its nature a 1-pass encoder, so it's not very good for when you're trying to be effecient on bit allocation.

Is that the same as this: Video to DVD ?
No, that device is nothing more than a simple video capture box that relies on the host computer to do any sort of encoding; Plextor's device is a full-out hardware Divx encoder.

No but I heard they do help prevent double posting. ;)
