P4 2.8C Cooling

I have a p4 2.8C with HT & stock HSF, but i will not be overclocking. I am very noob with building PCs, do i need some AS3 inbetween the HSF & chip? will that be able to come off easily later? any suggestions/comment appreciated.

The stock HS/F should come with a thermal pad on it. Since you aren't planning on OC'ing, this should be fine and AS3 won't be needed. If for some reason the thermal pad isn't present than you definetly need some AS3.

Oh... and the thermal pad is not exactly easy to get off, so if you are planning on taking the HS/F off at any point in time I suggest you take it off before ever using it and putting some AS3 or other thermal compound on, as they come off quite easily with Isopropyl Alcohol.

ya, my other HSF from intel came with a little black pad...didnt need any compound, but this one i got from a user here, and no pad, so i guess i need some AS3. know where to go to learn how to apply it?
