Hi ,

I have 2.6c 800 FSB and it does 3.5 GHz easy but i intend to keep this chip for a while.

The default vCore is 1.45v in the BIOS i added 0.5v to make it overall 1.5v and the chip does 3.2 GHz easy.

The thing is the temps are GREAT at this exact moment the PC has been on for like 11 hrs and temps are 25º/26º fair enough it was idle for about 8 hrs when i was sleeping but still .

it goes up big time when i use Prime95 but are these low temps during normal use unusual to this chip , or do many people get those temps at that vCore?

BTW i have a Thermalright SLK-947U with V9 Smartfan 2 .

Hi ,

Batmang : Hi ,

see my 2.6c i could not get it to go even anywhere near 3.0 GHz at first for like 3 days ... then i changed my RAM from DRR 400 setting to DDR 266 in the BIOS and it flew past 3.0 GHz .

Have you tried putting your RAM down , because it ends up around DDR333 / DDR400 anyway with the high FSB you need to get at 3.2 GHz. :)

its just that when i was trying like 13 x 250 @ 3250 MHz @ 3.2GHz my RAM was going to like DDR 440/450 or something like that because of the high FSB , so i set it at 266 and it got pushed up to nearly DDR400 anyway.

Batmang did you try changing CPU:Ram ratio from 1:1 how you have it right now. Obviously you cant go past 215FSB because you 3200 RAm only runs at 200mhz at stock so its holding you back

Drop the ratio to 5:4 or 3:2 and you'll be flying

You're so damn lucky :) very cool CPU.. could you tell us it's stepping?

Your temps are normal at that vcore, from my experience with the C's it seems like w/ HT on, idle temperature is very very low but when on load it goes up to normal temps. If you disable HT you will notice a significant raise in the idle temps but your load temps are going to be quite the same, ±2°C. Do you, by any chance, have one of the P4C800 models? If yes exactly what model and what BIOS version are you using?

Hi ,

This is my CPU Stepping

Intel Pentium 4 2.60 GHz 800 FSB [ Hyper Threading Technology ]

2.60GHZ/512/800
SL6WS MALAY
Q336 A250

T336B597
0593

The default vCore is pretty low @ 1.45v in BIOS and 1.475v actual voltage in windows hardware doctor.

bye

phpdog,

I've been battling with my cpu since i got it about 7 months ago. I'm currently trying to push the oc again, and its running at 3.2ghz / 246fsb / 5:4 ratio / 2.5-4-4-8 timings / 1.65vcore (actual 1.6v) / 2.8vdimm / 1.65vagp. Plays and runs games/applications fine for hours, not a hiccup, but once i run Prime95 or Superpi, both fail in seconds. I let Memtest86 run all night last night on these settings, and it ran 494 passes on test #5, 0 errors, and 0 failures. So its not my memory causing the Prime95/Superpi to fail, and surely not my psu for my voltages are fine. I'm running bios 14 on my IS7-E, and my hardware can be viewed in my signature. I'm not sure what my bottleneck is.....and it sucks to not be at 250fsb like a lot of you are. Help!
