p4 2.66 C1
Asus P4PE
1024 Mb Xorsair 2700 DDR XMS
ATI 9700 Pro
with all defaults hitting 14631 with 3dMarkSE

thanks alot in advance for help,

**make sure you konw how to reset cmos**

download:
prime95
wcpuid
memtest86

next:
what are your temperatures and what heatsink are you using? (retail or aftermarket)

if they are within reasonable range:
go to bios, start upping the cpu frequency a few mhz at a time
when it refuses to post or is unstable in windows (either it will freeze/restart/prime95 will give an error within 12-15hrs of torture test) its time to bump up the voltage **DONT GO OVER 1.7V ACTUAL** (use asus pcprobe or motherboard monitor 5 to monitor actual volts in windows)

if you seem to have hit a brickwall, raising Vdimm (ddr voltage) also helps sometimes

anothe thing you want to do is relax all ram timings

i am using volcano 7+
and i have vantec nexus panel with 3 temp sensors that i set up to show overal case temperature, cpu temp and memory temp.
already have all the software you mentioned.
can you be a little be more specific on memory timings.
right now i am running 2-2-3-7 at 350 ddr fequency.
I have had cpu running stable at 3.0ghz and the temp wasnt going higher then 40C
processor is at default 2.66
temps are as follows:
cpu 28.5 C idle/38 loaded
ram is around 29C idle/31.4 loaded

thanks alot and looking forward to your help,

I swear that Prime95 has a problem with stuff over 3ghz. I've got a P4 2.66 running on an Asus P4PE with a 512MB stick of Corsair XMS3200.

I can run 3dMark, Memtest, games, applications, etc all day long with it at 155FSB, 3.1Ghz, 413DDR, 1.575Vcore, 2.6 Vmem.

Prime95 craps out within a couple minutes to a couple hours. I've tried everything, raising vcore, vmem, relaxing memory timings, etc. The only "true" stable result I can get with Prime95 is at default settings, 145FSB, which is 2.9Ghz. Even then Prime95 failed after 28 hours.

I'm leaving my system where it is now. I can run everything I need and have only had one crash so far in the past month or so, which was probably because my CPU fan dial was turned all the way down while playing DAoC:SI :p

Cheers

"right now i am running 2-2-3-7 at 350 ddr fequency."

those seem to be the biggest numbers available, and since you havent had any problems i dont think you should worry much

only thing i would do now is try to find the max overclock, then play around wtih the above timings and see which gives a better combination

P4 2.66 C1
Abit IT7MAX
2x512mb Corsair 3200CAS2 DDR
PNY Ti4600
Swifteck MCX4000 heatsink/Sunnon 52.6cfm fan
2XWest Dig 40gb 8mb JB SEs in RAID0 [FAST!]

Been running at 3210mhz for quite awhile
Memory set 4:3 ratio for 214mhz@2-6-3-3
CPU voltage 1.7v
3DMARK2001SE is 15028 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=5047833
PC Mark2002 score is 7860/7360/1738 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?pcm=899378

Odd thing is PC Mark2002 score says 3130mhz when it is at 3210. It reports the FSB as 160 which is correct but the CPU is at 3210.
Wish I had a ATI 9700 to try in here. Also the CPU will run at 3360 fine but have to run the memory at 1:1 ratio then, it craps out set 4:3.
Decided to get the max from the memory and back the CPU down. I am pretty happy with it. A lot of guys say you can't overclock good with 2 sticks of memory in ;)
So this is 2X512mb sticks running just fine thank you.

its not whether you can overclock good or not, its whether both sticks of ram will take the overclocked speeds they are made to endure
somtimes one craps out at a lwoer overclocked speed, forcing you to either buy another stick or just run it at a lower overall speed

besides you are only 14mhz (28ddr) over spec ;)

It is at 214 which is DDR 428 is it not? That makes it 14mhz over spec or 28mhz over spec DDR.
