Intel to Restart Idled Plant, Roll Out Faster Chips

<< Otellini also said Intel later this quarter will unveil its Pentium 4 processor running at 2.53 gigahertz -- its fastest ever... >>

Even with only a 20% overclock (which seems like is always achievable) we're talking about 3.04GHz. I'll bet that most people on this board could get 3.4GHz and some of the extreme overclockers 3.8GHz :D

19x133fsb? - neat.
big waste of money right now tho since the 100fsb chips overclock so well.

Yes it is currently a waste of money, but it ensures future upgrades for the 133fsb boards that are coming out (only Asus has them in mass production right now). So finally in May I'll get a 645DX board (probably MSI since they're less expensive) and a 1.6a to OC to 2.4GHz. Next year I'll upgrade to a 133MHz Northwood chip. The 3GHz chips are supposed to be out this year, so in the fall of 2003 they should be pretty inexpensive. At that time, I'll upgrade and hopefully OC to 3.6GHz - 3.8GHz.

The only glitch to this plan is wondering whether there will any memory available at that time that runs faster than DDR400 or if we'll finally be using DDR2. I don't mind replacing just the motherboard or the memory or the processor, but don't want to have to replace them all at once!
