I think Thugs had his p4m up to 198 though... so I am not sure... other than saying these chips are not able to go more than 178-180 (though a few are real winners at 180+). I will be able to tell something with mine about the middle of next week when I get my bh7. (I am able to get mine Prime stable at 180fsb @ 1.65 vcore)

Funny thing about those p4m chips....ven Evan pointed out and others have as well that they can get those p4m's up high fsb on system like sis655 mobo, but any c1 stepping chips struggles to get into the 170's on the same system.....Is this just the c1 factor...What is the deal.....

Many have seen the p4m anamoly though I have heard no one really explain why...

My 2.53 C1 runs great @ 195MHz FSB. It just takes phase-change cooling to get it there. ;) I am curious about how well the MCX4000 I am getting will do.... Should be interesting.

Well, we have to remember as well that the GB boards were only to be a 167 fsb board. So getting anything above that is gravy, BUT, I am still holding out hope for the GB boards, that they will release a bios that will allow 200+ about the same time as the bulk of the new 800 fsb chips are launched. No the first one(which is suppose to be the 3.0 800fsb launched with Canterwood in 10 days). If they can do that, the GB boards will have a little extra life in them. Not that they are "poor" performers now by any means.

We'll compare notes next week. My Swifty is due on Tuesday. I will run it up against my Alpha - head to head. Will start by putting the YS Tech fan on my Swifty to compare Heat Sinks head to head... then we will put on the TMD and see what it does. Should be an interesting comparison.

Hey I would love to have thugs rig running my chip at the speed now with those type of bandwidth numbers....In my multimedia testing I have done it may take me running near 3.4ghz with a 1:1 ratio to perform equally anyways....

The GB is steeper then I like to pay for a mobo...the sis655 is more my price, but in a recent thread I could get no one to come forward to give accounts of successful ocing above 169fsb....

I though GB boards are officially only pc2100 boards or therefore 133fsb board??? I know that may be contrary to what you are saying but I think any board that list as high as 200fsb should be able to run it.....My albatron goes up to 243fsb...will it do it??? Some guy tested it to 220fsb but with a p4m so who knows....

2 possible reasons for the "supposed" p4m anomily?

1) b0 stepping ~ prefetch bug?
2) p4m is only 2400mhz @ 200fsb and doesnt require a lot of power?

Seriously, it will be a help to us...

And mine is Prime95 stable at 180fsb 1.625 vcore (bios - just couldn't help it)

Have you tried running higher fsb with relaxed mem timing?

No, maybe I should try with memory turbo off, as you answered my question in our PMs. :)

Thanks, gonna try with memory turbo off and default spd memory timings at 179fsb, 1.6vcore. After that, the only other setting is to boost the vagp to 1.7. I have it at 1.6 currently, and I think that is all she wrote. :)

Anyone else notice this 178fsb seems to be where a lot of the chips seem to be ending on this board??? I know pastorjay does!!! I even think thugs stopped at 178 as well....Hmmm coincidence????;)

Well, Jhites was able to go 183fsb with this chip (which I bought off him), so I think my memory may be the factor or that my mobo overvolts a lot higher as well. Other than that, identical setups.

Just as Thugs said
I would recommend that you still use manual for memory.
Turn off wpcrset
Just set it to 2.5-3-3-7
turbo=disabled
idle timer=infinite
Also set the vagp to 1.7
and the vdimm to 2.7

If that does not work, then go back to Bios version 1003.
There have been some ppl post that they get better oc with 1003.

Well, I'm testing with the default memory timings 2.5-3-3-7 with memory turbo disabled and idle timer at infinite, and it seems like Prime95 is going better than before at 179fsb! So, looks like memory was my issue before. Just waiting a few more mins, and I will try a go at 180fsb.

yes i agree with jhites ~ 1003 is a better bios.

X-bios is also stable.

i lost 178fsb stable on beta14 ~ went back to 1003.
