I'm considering getting a P4 2.53 533 CPU and a Gigabyte 8INXP mobo (whenever they come out.) I was wondering how difficult it would be to OC the cpu up to around 3.0GHz, and what type of cooling I might need to do that. Also, I was wondering what type of RAM would be reccommended for this. I've been looking at the CORSAIR MEMORY XMS PC-3200C2. If I can get an extra 3-400 MHz out of the stock HSF, I'd like to do that.

PS: I've been using XP+ Athlons for awhile, as far as I know, to OC a P4 you just need a mobo that supports FSB control right? Or do you have to "unlock" the cpu like with the athlon?

Thanks for advice/suggestsions.

I have a 2.53 C1 stepping processor and on my ASUS P4PE it can easily reach 3ghz, although i did need some extra voltage. I myself prefer to run it at default voltage, my current setting is 19 x 150.

You shouldnt need any cooling other than the retail heat sink, but make sure your running a few case fans just to keep the air flowing.

There is no way to unlock the multiplyer on P4's, just rise the FSB until you reach the desired speed, nearly every motherboard will allow you to do this.
