Oh well, better to have tried and failed, then to have thought what might have been. Looks like this one is a dud. I put my 2.4 SL6EF back in and I'm back at 166fsb rock solid stable. Looks like this one is headed back to the retail shelf, and I am in the market for an SL6S2. :)

Jhites, Thugs, thanks for the vote of confidence, but looks like this 2.53 is a dud for OCing.

Duvie - Going to return it and get my money back, as I know the owner of the store which I bought it from. You are right, must get, must have 3+ghz! :)

Thugsrook - Yeah, lower fsb and duds do suck. Going to see what I can do in getting one of those SL6S2s. :) May have to wait a couple of weeks. :(

I've come to realize that cpu ocing is still pretty much a gamble. You win some and lose some, nothing really you can do. But, it's all part of the fun process of finding that "golden" chip. :) Thanks everyone for all your support, and keep those rigs overclocked! Hehe.

You might also look for a 2.4b SL6RZ...

Ihave 2 2.4b SL6RZs and they OC like crazy....

1st Asus P4B533-E, Samsung 512mb PC3200, Alpha 8945 running 3420(180*18) Vcore 1.525 - idle 33C/load 52C

2nd Albatron 845PEpro, Corsair 512mb XMS3200LL, Alpha 8945 currently burning at Prime95 for 19+hours 3510(190*18) Vcore 1.55 - idle 32C/load 55C
was able to load WinXP and run Prime95 for 30 minutes as high as 3708 (206*18)... trying to find the sweet spot between RAM and CPU speeds...

I will be trying a 2.53 SL6S2 in the next few days...
