P4 2.53 C1 or not to C1 - That is the question?

Is the P4 2.53 always going to be a C1? I'm a bit muddled on this stepping issue and i'm trying to bring my learning curve up on it.

Question of the Day: If you had a choice between a 2.4B and a 2.53 and they both cost the same - WHICH one would you choose???

Thanks

so far the only guaranteed c1's are 2.66 and higher. and i would go with a 2.4b just for a chance to get a 2.4b c1 (googlegear seems to be the best chance for one) that has a good chance to hit 3.1 - 3.2. with a 2.4b you should at least beable hit 2.9ghz or higher, i dont really know about the 2.53

I thought that all the 2.53's were C1's? Here is a question, Why are the majority of people running 2.4's? Is it price point or is it as you say high possiblility of getting a C1?

2.53's are not all C1's.
2.4b's have a multipier of 18 vs the 2.53's with a multiplier of 19.
Lower multiplier = higher fsb = better performance for less $$$$$

So a 2.4B will outperform a 2.53. You have any numbers on how much? It's interesting that the multiplier makes that much of a difference...

Look at it this way: Lets say both overclock to 2.8 GHz on an 845 PE board using a 4:5 mem ratio.

2.4B @ 2.8 GHz:
18 x 155 FSB, DDR388

2.53 @ 2.8 GHz:
19 x 147 FSB, DDR368

The 2.4B runs a higher FSB speed and higher memory speed at the same CPU speed.
