A guy over at overclocker's forum has it running @ 3.1 watercooled. Not as good as I expected...

that's still 300 mhz faster than the fastest intel chips and a 700mhz overclock. What did you want 4.5ghz?

I think that 3.1 is well above average for a 2.4b, right;)? and everyone over there was arguing the point that his chip stepping, SL6EF, doesn't even exist yet (he posted the info from the packing label on the side of the retail box) because of the c1 stepping codes found here, as if these codes are the only c1 stepping codes; the articles clearly states that: "Intel just announced a C-1 stepping for some of its OEM processors. . .," so why are people waiting to see OEM c1 stepping codes on the side of a retail box:Q?? That sounds like a looong wait to me:p.

Very nice! He never mentions rasing the Vcore beyond the default 1.525v so should we presume that he achieved this overclock@default? :Q Perhaps someone should ask........

Look at his sandra cpu screenshot...It says 1.7v....

The fact is he likely does not need the water cooling for the 3.1ghz anyways, and probably could have achieved it with decent air cooling...

Overall with most b0 stepping 1.8 and 2.4b chips 2.8 usually seems the max at 1.7v...therefore it is clear the c1 stepping is much better....

Duvie is right, I asked him and it was indeed 1.7v, still worthy though.

Mine is SL6EF, guess I got a C1! WOOOHOOO!!!! :) Now all I need is faster memory. I got it to boot into windows at 166FSB at default voltage, but the memory crapped out (I have PC2100).

EDIT: got it from Staples (special ordered from Ingram Micro), looks like they have the C1s in stock.

w00t! Thats sweet, almost at 3Ghz! If the 2.4 performs that well, I think the 2.26C1 will probly hit 3Ghz avg.

Your right Yeti...the 2.26ghz will be the true gem out of the bunch...low multiplier for high fsbs which may come in handy on a soon to be released Granite Bay Dual DDR mobo...
