P4 2.4b CPU:Memory dual-channel question

I have been reading up on memory and dual-channel setups recently trying to figure out the best spec to run memory at with a P4 2.4b. I have an Abit IS7-E (Dual-channel, 4 slots). What is the major difference between running it at 3:4 or 1:1? Is 1:1 generally better in duan-channel mode, particularly when overclocking?
