Hey I got a P4 2.4/800fsb and the asus P4P8X 865P (which in all accounts I read is made to run overclocked for the chip since the board is only a 400/533mhz fsb) So like Im saying the guys at the shop insist that the board is made for the chip, but the cmos wont load correctlly.
So I start the machine, everything starts to load and then I get this "overclocking faild please enter setup and reconfigure you system" but no matter how I configure it, you can not load windows unless you load factory defaults. The system boots with the same error, unless you select f2 "factory defaults" you can not boot into windows.....
I have tried to download a bios update and flash the bios, but am not so skilled in the areas of the cmos/bios whatever, and am afraid of erasing it all togather.... any ideas or help would be appreicated

If you are using a chip with an 800MHz FSB you should be using DDR3200.

What in particular made you buy that board and how much was it?
I'm not knocking it, just curious.

RTFM

Quote: "When overclocking to 800MHz CPU FSB the system supports only DDR400(PC3200) Dimms due to chipset limitations"

well I bought the board because the nerds at the shop insist that its the best board for gaming, hell i offered more for any other board that would work better(i had to return it once cause I accidently erased the bios on the first one with no back up) But they said noooo this is the one you want, probably the only one thay had or they are tryin to get rid of them. I dunno but I already spent 200 on the cpu so getting the board for 100 is a nice break..... I think. And I dont want to give them the satisfaction of having to go back to them. Hell what I read about it it sounds like a nice boad supports hyper threading and made to over clock for the 800FSB so I guess Im a dumb ass,
But it does have lots of cool features for a board at that price, 4 slots for ram gigait built in nic, if you hear any thing let me know, and thanks for the response......was startin to feel like Im talkin to my self.

Take that POS back and get your money. You should not have to overclock your board to achieve an 800Mhz FSB. Get your Fn money back and order an IS7.

I got it all fixed, the 800fsb requires 400mhz pc3200. screams like a camp now. those idiots gave me 333mhz /2700, i trust in the compatance of others far too much never question weather I was given the right memory.

WTF? 12 year old AOL'r typing? lol..

I can't believe some of the staff at stores, how they can give their customers incompatible hardware. You think they would try harder to satisfy their customer's needs. Especially someone who isnt computer savvy (that's double v)
