i sure you have a bit more room to go but my question is why would it show as 3160 when 30% OC is 3120???

Be careful. The retail fan throttles, so it's not the idle temperature that should concern you. A 30% overclock corresponds to a 260Mhz FSB. Depending on your memory, you should run that on a 4:5 (320MHz Memory frequency) or a 3:2 (266 mem freq). Timings are dependent on your memory quality and which divider, something like 2-3-2-6 for tight 2.5-4-4-7 for loose. I'd also turn off turbo mode (Performance Mode - Standard) and enable MAM.

2.4/400 is 24x100fsb right? so a 30% OC is only 133fsb...

Or did you mean 2.4/800, 12x200 would be 260fsb...

his board may be rounding slightly to give a different figure..My Abit IT-& MAx 2 revv 2 fsb of 166 is actually 166.6 so I get 3ghz or 3.01ghz

Ok, now ASUS porbe is reading 3144 on processor speed. Can I get some suggestions to change settings manually. I am using crucial 2700 DDR 1.5GB for ram, P4 2.4/400, not 533 or 800 with Coolermaster IHC-H71 and GForce4 Ti 4200 64MB AGPx8. Thanks, last time I overclocked a chip was with a P2 300....oh boy, showing my age.....

Run CPU-Z to get an idea of memory timing and which divider you're running, otherwise what I have listed above should work. I thought you were running the P4P800, but the BIOS settings should be close. For stability testing, run Prime95 and some multimedia (like 3DMark03, which I don't usually run because I can't watch temps, or maybe watch a DVD while playing WinAmp with visuals and playing a Divx file in WMP)). Also check out the P4C800 thread in the Motherboard section, it will give you some hints.

The P4P800 does some interesting rounding. In fact, I've seen it post different speeds at the same BIOS settings (a little added random number?).

That score scounds about right for a Ti4200 since it's not DX9 compatiblt right? Only the FX+R9500+ can score decent on 3DMarks despite CPU.

i do not have another system to compare it from so, make it difficult to do so,.....none the less, these are crappy readings....and I do have DX9.0a so, dunno if this makes a dfference.

you can compare it too others with similar setups on the futuremark site once you publish your results
