P4 2.2GHz - Stock thermal pad or artic silver 3

im now running a (stock) p4 2.2Ghz. When I put my hand around the HSF it feels a bit stuffy/warm. I was wondering if AS3 would make a noticable difference from the stock thermal pad or vice versa.

any ideas?

Just a note: I have an Inwin Q500 with no blow fans or exhaust fans (dust issues).

I'm using AS3 on my HSF now but I'm not sure if it's run cooler than
the stock thermal pad, because i didn't try it. i just simply remove
the thermal pad when the first time i install the cpu.
well, what's your temps reading, if it's around 7-12C above
the case temp than it should be OK. mine is 37C while the case is 30C.

Running your HS/F w/ ASIII will do just fine. It would be better if you were to purchase an alpha HS and a better fan for cooling. Also work on getting your case cooled. The more cool air you bring in and its circulating, the better. Just remember to set it up to remove the warm air out. My pc is at 32c (CPU) 28c (case). Pc's are small compaired to Message units. I work on thease big boards and they can generate heat. So, we work on airflow to move the air around and get it out. Bring in cool air from bottom and release it at top. With this in mind, your case and CPU temps will be lower.

To answer your question, AS3 might drop the temp by 3-5C Vs. the stock thermal tape.(maybe not even that much, but every little bit helps) I never use thermal tape for anything but ram. I have my 1.6A @ 2.5, 1.6V and it idles at 28C, load 45C. I do have pretty hefty case cooling though, 4 80mm Sunon high speed 55CFM fans, 2 lower intake, 2 upper exhaust, plus the 80mm on the PSU. Case temp stays right around 25C.
