I have gotten this from several of you guys. It is an e-store by the name of Edge Micro that shows a S478 OEM Pentium4 2GHz CPU for US$168.00. Now since this is about $400 cheaper than the 2GHz Retail CPU and still less expensive than the 1.9GHz CPU, I called and spoke with David at their customer service desk and quizzed him on the pricing. They fully understand the price the they have represented on-line and did say they would take orders TODAY on this item. The CPUs are not in stock and David expressed a 2 to 3 day delivery on them. Here is where to go to check it out. Their site uses cookies so follow these directions. Point your browser at this LINK. Then click on "Processors" in the left hand menu. Then click the "Intel Pentium4 - Socket 478" link on the page that loads and you should see this. Good luck. We will keep you advised as we have bought a few for Christmas gifts and just to see how it goes.

The reseller ratings are not good, but I trust Kyle over at HardOCP....going to try and get one...

if they (company) know why on earth would they honor it.

I may kick myself, but i'm out. Not worth the hassle of getting the charge taken off my card.

This really does seem to good to be true.

I have a feeling that:

1. The deal won't happen.

2. The deal won't happen for so long that the P4 2.0 will be priced this low by that time. That is, there are major Intel price cuts coming with the 0.13u P4's that are on the way.

Same results as daveman. The site was slammed, so I called to place the order. The CSR told me it was a typo. The actual price is $491. Oh well. It was worth the try.

HardOCP broke the cardinal rule...well the $0.81 NICS and ~$22 speakers should be good enough for today. Saves me money I guess. But then again, I'm always saving money on these deals. :)
