Seems like the V.core @ 2.5 ain't enough.... I had some problems runnin' the PC at 1.46 V. core, so I raised it up to 1.53.
Every thing is runni' wild now !

Hey, got another one for you: copy the contents of Unreal Tournament Disc 1 to a folder on your hard drive, fire up WinZip 8.1, and compress the folder at Maximum compression, time how long it takes. :D I'm guessing about 3 minutes and change.

hi there,

try to see if your pc will boot when you set the fsb to 133. it would be nice if you could get it to 2666 MHz. Also, when at 133, your pci/agp settings will also be in spec, which is better than what's at the 125 setting (even with the adjusted settings for fsb ranges of 120-129).

good luck :)

THE PCI/AGP are locked @ 33/66 :D
I realy don't know If i should hit the FSB to 133, because INtel HSF sux !
I Tried every thing I even have 2 120 MM Fans in the case, and still the temp. is a little high, either the temp. chip is not acurate or the CPU is damn hot.
The CPU temp are 45~47 WIth no load 50~55 under load.

that is not true. your load temps are just fine, and nothing will happen to your cpu. also, as you may or may not know, Abit mobo's usually tend to give out higher temps than what it actually is. So if i were you, i wouldnt be worried at all, and the intel hs/fan does not "sux" at all.

worst thing that will happen it that your pc wont boot, and all you'd have to do to fix that is clear the cmos, and go back to 2500 MHz.

I have used Prime95 for 25 Min.
My CPU is clocked @ 2.5 and didn't change any thing but I raised the V. core a little...and guess how hot did the CPU run !!!!
65 c !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still You want me to try CPU @ 2.66 ?
If u still think I'm at the safe side...then I'll do it. :D

Any ideas, don't tell me to buy swiftech MCX 4000, I can't pay 50+ $ for an HSF because right nw I'm payin' for DSL ( 60 $/month).

65°C may be a bit toasty, but that shouldnt stop you from setting your BIOS to 133 fsb. Just try it and see what happens. You can always change it back if you dont like it.

I've completed all the tests once and the CPU temp. went as high as 56 c.
I don't want to try prime95 because it will burn my CPU for sure, but I'll try some unreal tournamnet later.

My mobo sensor reports a temp of up to 70 C under load with prime 95. This is 2.66ghz. When its at 1.6ghz the load temps is about 15 C lower.

I have an alpha 8942 on the way to remedy this problem though.:)

I agree that the mobo sensor reports data alittle high. I my opinion its about 10 C high.

That's a good choice about the Alpha HSF, but I can't spare enough money as much as 45$+ for HSF.
Can you help me findin' a better HSF than intel's at a reasnable price !

good overclock for air cooling, I was only able to push my 2.0A to 2.6G before it started throttling down and that was with water cooling even though MBM was reporting 35C. I guess i didnt draw a good chip so I might wait till the C stepping chips come down in price some more...maybe a 2.53G.

here is my system and we can compare.

p4 2.26
2 256mb pc2100 crucial cl2.5
80 gb wb 800bb
asus ti4200 128mb
intel ac'97 sound
inwin microatx case
soltek sl-85mir mobo (i845g chipset)

with everything on auto i.e. running at stock , memory at ddr266 with spd timings

i get

cpu 5367
mem 4781
hdd 1122

apparently you have the old revision WD 800bb. the new one has 2 40 gb platters, instead of 3 27 gb ones. because my disk score is a lot higher than yours. mine has a august 2002 build date on it.

yeah that is your old 2.26.

it runs 150 fsb x 17 =2550 fine at default. but well i'm on a 250 watt power supply (albeit a very high quality one), with a micro atx board with no voltage tweaks, i'm not really a big overclockers, i just test all my stuff out, see what it can do and then run at default because i'm wierd like that. hopefully the 2.53 i sent you is doing well.
