P4 1.8A overclocking question/problem

I've been running my P4- 1.8A at 2.4 ghz for a few months. However, I was getting occassional lock-ups in Soldier of Fortune II, so I clocked it back down to it's default setting. Is there a sweet spot or something somewhere in between that I should be shooting for? I originally had changed the FSB from 100 to 133. I don't know enough about overclocking to know whether it's ok to try something in between. It also affects my memory. I have PC2700 RAM. At the default CPU setting, it only runs at 266 because of the 100 mhz FSB. At 2.4, it ran at about 354 mhz. That's another reason I would like to overclock the CPU, so I can improve my RAM performance. Any suggestions?

As an alternative, if I bump it all the way back up to 2.4 ghz, are there other settings I can tweak that might make the lock-ups go away? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Yeah, you can pretty safely raise the vcore voltage to 1.6v or even 1.65v. It's good to keep it low but not at the expense of stability.

What vcore are you currently using ?

my p4 1.8 isnt anything special like a c1 stepping.

It can do 150 fsb at 1.6vcore in the bios.

1.65vcore in windows because my asus mb overvolts.
