my m/b states that the p4 1.7 williamette is not supported but the 1.8 is. aren't they basically the same cpu? why would tne 1.7 not be supported but the 1.8 is?

The 1.7 requires a higher voltage (about 1.7) to post, and many newer boards don't supply enought juice. The newer northwoods only need 1.5 volts, and the prescotts work as low as 1.3.

i received an email from the board manf today and there is a jumper that needs to be set when using the williamette(sp?) cpus, p!sses me off that it is not in the manual...but it is working 🙂 🙂 now i just need a use for the box......
