This is a cross post, and i am sorry. Didn't see so many broad categories
earlier.

I had posted a query on RAM upgrade earlier on general hardware,
ps: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=27&threadid=1197937

There was one reply from a member about whether the above processor
of mine was compatible with the newer 865's mobos. I cross checked
this with the vendor who has never tried such a thing and has no
information to offer.

Further to above i posted the following query on the processor on same
general harware forum

This was the place where it should have been posted.

865 GBF has support for processor in a mPGA478 socket with a 400 MHz
system bus

My current mother board has support for processor in a µPGA478 socket
with a 400 MHz system bus

Would my processor be compatible with the 865GBf mobo?

What is the difference between mPGA478 socket and µPGA478 socket?

Hyper threading option is given by the newer processors... Will that
affect the way my system would operate as my processor is not HT enabled?
Would there be a case of malfunctioning system?

Will my change(assuming my processor should work with newer config) from
above config to 865GBF with 512 DDR RAM be better on performance?

Seems like I remember either the 865 or 875 not being compatable with 400fsb cpus. Im thinking it was maybe the integrated graphics version of the 865, could be wrong though.
