P4 1.4@1.6 ~OR~ Tbird 1.0@1.33 ????

Ok, i just bought a P4 system for a really good price. Right now I have an Athlon system. Which parts should i mix and match because i only plan on keeping one of the systems? Input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

please let me know which parts i should keep to build one system. the main conflict i'm having is whether to keep the Tbird or the P4. I'm trying to consider performance and future upgradability. thanx.

Keep the Athlon, your P4 has *no* future upgradeability. Intel has already switched P4 sockets.

Well last time I checked the P4/423 could be upgraded to 2GHz so pffft with that no upgradeability idea

We all know the Athlons hold better performance/clock than the P4 and since it has 512Mb RDRAM (god I hate that word) I would sell it and get more money in my pocket from the P4. You will notice approximately the same performance out of both machines but the P4 would be worth more right now.

Go for the Athlon. A 1.33 Athlon outperforms a 1.6 P4.

keep the tbird.. you'll get more selling yer p4.. plus u can drop a palamino into the mobo later .. obviously put the geforce 3 into it 😀

yea intel was an option cuz its so much quieter, but i guess i'm leaning towards keeping my bird and just buying another hsf.

what are the approximate values of my intel-related stuff? i am very foreign to intel.

such as:
P4 1.4
indigo orb
abit th-7 raid
512 mushkin rdram (4x128)

how much could i realistically get for these parts, say in the FS/FT forum?

OH YEA, and up to what speed TBIRD can my iwill mobo use?

ur KK266 will have no problem with any speed tbird 🙂 And I believe you can drop a palamino in there too

rite now i'm considering selling the P4 stuff and all the other parts i don't need. i think i can probably end up w/ a pretty nice free upgrade when all is done, since i hope to make back what i paid and possibly more.

Hint: The P4 is "quieter" because of that Enermax PSU. 🙂
