I posted this in the o/c forum thought i might try here too.

I have a P3V4X and a 700E my ram is only pc100 and i want to know if I can o/c the cpu and not the ram. Is this possible with this board? I couldn't find in the manual how I would set this unless i missed it. Any help would be appreciated.

You can change (increase) the FSB at the P3V4X, but of course not the multplier. That brings your 700, mabye up to 850/900, if you are lucky.

I don't believe that mobo has seperate setting for the CPU bus and ram bus like some of the newer mobo's that are out now. I am only going from memory from the P3v4x manual that I looked at a few months ago.

You can probably visit the Asus site and verify that this mobo doesn't have this feature.

The BIOS field you need to use when o/c a 700E is the System/SDRAM frequency ratio. The default setting is 1/1.

At 100 MHz FSB, you can also set it to 3/2 (66 MHz SDRAM) or 1/1 (100 MHz SDRAM) or 3/4 (133 MHz SDRAM).

Above 124 MHz, the settings change. At 133 MHz FSB you can run it at 1/1 or 4/3 (100 MHz).

The exact speed frequency of the memory depends on the PCI bus. Thus an in-between setting like 120 MHz is not simply 120 MHz + 33 MHz. Instead it is something like 120 MHz + 40 MHz, since the PCI bus is running out of spec.

I run on a P3V4X with a 700E @ 1008.
