P3V4X wierdness

My system worked fine for a week or two, then <poof> started hanging on windows startup (just after 'the sound' starts). All I did is reinstall drivers on my vortex2 card. Eventually formatted + reinstalled, and discovered that as soon as I installed my GeForce Drivers, the sytem would hang again. I've tried many things - seems independant of VIA 4-in-1 drivers and the AGP GART drivers. System is rock solid as long as I keep PCI VGA display adapter. Any thoughts?

I tried several drivers on the GeForce - Leadtek, Detonator 1 & 2
I think I actually might have found it now. My soundcard seems to be the issue. I have a Montego2 Quadzilla, and just this evening I had the system up, running the latest Aueal drivers for Vortex2 boards. Detonator 2 5.2x drivers were running nicely. But I want my rear speaker out, so I had to install older drivers from turtle beach to get the support (I can't have Klipsch ProMedia v.2-400 setup running only the front pair, it's a sin)
These drivers caused the system to crash the instant anything tried to make a sound.
Maybe I'll just return to soundblaster...

Well, I heard back from Turtle Beach, and this is what they say -

"This is a known issue between the current Quadzilla drivers and the Via ApolloPro133A (also, all Athlon chipsets, and Intel i8xx chipsets). The Aureal vortex 2 drivers v.2048 and the Montego II drivers v.2046, file m2_9x46.zip resolve this issue, although these do not allow rear speakers or S/PDIF. New drivers for the Quadzilla are being finalized and should be available for download by the end of July/beginning of August."
